Mara never gave up the lead

Another evening at the green baize — a bit of everything, just like home.
Pity took last place without any nerves at all, on 50 points. 2 hands in a row: the table said and did, Pity said and... hoped. It didn't hold. The second of the opening eights: 2 chairs thrown at Pity in seconds 🪑 — the table spoke its mind, furnished and all.
In 4th place, Nico, on 93 points. In the first of the closing eights, Nico bid 0 and took 3 — and Pity went down with it. The place above was a single point away.
Third, on the podium: Daniel S, up there with eyes on the top step. Daniel was ahead of Ilinca right up to the last hand.
Ilinca took second with 96 points — a fine evening, but the gods of whist were busy elsewhere. Ilinca got past Daniel S at the very last hand. In the seven-card hand on the way down: Ilinca said 1, made 4, and the evening was ruined for Nico.
Mara took the game with 128 points and a 32-point cushion — never really in doubt. In front from the fourth of the opening eights to the end, and nobody got close enough to worry about. 9 good hands in a row — at one point, Mara was playing as if they could see everyone else's cards.
Well played everyone — and especially Mara!
