The comeback of Kiki

The lead changed hands 6 times — nobody got comfortable at the top.

Ana took last place without any nerves at all, on 56 points. The second of the opening eights: Ana called 6 with the heart, not the cards. Eyes bigger than the hand.

Elena rounds out the podium with 88 points. Bronze still counts as a medal. Level on points with Mihai, and behind only on the tie-break. Elena was ahead of Mihai right up to the last hand.

Mihai finished second, just 1 point short of the win. Mihai got past Elena at the very last hand. In the first of the closing eights: Mihai said 1, made 4, and the evening was ruined for Ana.

Kiki won by a whisker, with just 1 point — at whist even one point is as good as a mile. 2 hands in a row: the table said and did, Kiki said and... hoped. It didn't hold. And that despite a slip in the very last hand.
