Luis never gave up the lead

Last place: Mihai, with 82 points. Mihai was ahead of Elena right up to the last hand. After the second of the closing eights, Mihai was 2nd and dreaming of the podium — but the last hands had other plans.

Elena completed the podium with 87 points. The last hand decided it: Elena went past Mihai right on the line. 2 hands in a row: only Elena slipped, while the rest said it and did it. The cards were kind to everyone but Elena.

Ana took second with 90 points — a fine evening, but the gods of whist were busy elsewhere. 3 hands in a row: the whole table kept its word, only Ana didn't — but insisted, with dignity. Ana spent a long time on the red lantern and came out clean — determined not to buy the round.

Luis finishes on 114 points, 24 above the next — the rest were playing a different game, it seems. In the second of the middle eights: Luis called 1, took 4, and Mihai was left out in the cold. In front from the last of the opening eights to the end, and nobody got close enough to worry about.
