The comeback of Radu

The tail of the table: Cosmin, with 80 points. Somebody has to hold the candle. Cosmin swore 0 in the second of the opening eights and took a trick — whist has a sense of humour.

In 5th place, Alina, on 94 points. Alina was ahead of Ioana right up to the last hand. After the two-card hand on the way up, Alina was 3rd and dreaming of the podium — but the last hands had other plans.

Ioana finishes right in the middle — neither hot nor cold — 4th, with 97 points. Ioana got past Alina at the very last hand. In the first of the opening eights: Ioana said 2, made 5, and the evening was ruined for Alina and Cosmin.

Third, and on the podium: Daniel S, with 102 points. Daniel said they'd take nothing in the fifth of the opening eights... and took some. Whist listens, then does the opposite.

Elena led for 13 hands but finished second, 36 points behind. In the seven-card hand on the way up: Elena called 0, took 3, and Alina and Daniel S were left out in the cold.

Radu wins by 36 clear. That's not whist any more, it's a parade with a brass band. It didn't start well — only 3rd after the opening eights — but it clearly didn't end there. At one stretch, 11 good hands in a row.
