Ionela comes back from behind

The lead passed from hand to hand, 6 times over — it was anyone's guess.

Ionela won the game with 94 points. Ionela only went in front at the very last hand. It didn't start well — only 3rd after the opening eights — but it clearly didn't end there.

Ana finishes second, 5 points short of gold. Silver shines, but not quite the same. The last hand decided it: Ana went past Luis right on the line. Ana was even in front after the last of the opening eights.

Third, on the podium: Luis, up there with eyes on the top step. Luis was ahead of Ionela right up to the last hand. 2 hands in a row: the whole table kept its word, only Luis didn't — but insisted, with dignity.

Mihai closed the table from the back, on 85 points — there is always a next game. From leader to red lantern. The little wedge tipped the big cart — and the cart was Mihai. Level on points with Luis, and behind only on the tie-break.
