Gigel never gave up the lead

The cards are back in the box. Here is what happened at the table.

GIBO took last place without any nerves at all, on 75 points. In the third of the closing eights, GIBO bid 1 and took 4 — and Ioana went down with it. 2 hands in a row: GIBO broke the contract each time while everyone else made theirs.

Neither at the front nor at the back: Elena in 5th, with 90 points. The comfort zone. 2 hands in a row: Elena broke the contract each time while everyone else made theirs.

Radu finished 4th with 104 points. In the fourth of the opening eights: Radu said 3, made 6, and the evening was ruined for Cretu.

Third, and on the podium: Ioana, with 130 points. 2 hands in a row: the table said and did, Ioana said and... hoped. It didn't hold.

Cretu took second with 133 points — a fine evening, but the gods of whist were busy elsewhere. Cretu swore 0 in the six-card hand on the way down and took a trick — whist has a sense of humour.

Gigel wins by 33 clear. That's not whist any more, it's a parade with a brass band. In front from the second of the opening eights to the end, and nobody got close enough to worry about. Only one broken contract all game.
