Cretu wins it late

8 changes of leader: this one was a tug of war.

The tail of the table: Elena, with 72 points. Somebody has to hold the candle. In the last of the opening eights: Elena called 2, took 6, and Daniel S was left out in the cold. 2 hands in a row: only Elena slipped, while the rest said it and did it. The cards were kind to everyone but Elena.

Third, and on the podium: Daniel S, with 76 points. 2 hands in a row: the table said and did, Daniel said and... hoped. It didn't hold.

Mihai took second with 82 points — a fine evening, but the gods of whist were busy elsewhere. In the second of the opening eights: Mihai said 3, scooped 6, and Elena was left counting the pieces.

Cretu finishes on 102 points, 20 above the next — the rest were playing a different game, it seems.
