The comeback of PaulP

The lead passed from hand to hand, 4 times over — it was anyone's guess.

Radu took last place without any nerves at all, on 85 points. 13 broken contracts, collected like stamps.

Neither at the front nor at the back: Emi in 5th, with 107 points. The comfort zone. In the third of the middle eights, Emi bid 0 and took 4 — and Olga went down with it. The place above was a single point away.

In 4th place, Olga, on 108 points. Olga was ahead of Ioana right up to the last hand. After the two-card hand on the way up, Olga was 2nd and dreaming of the podium — but the last hands had other plans.

Third, and on the podium: Ioana, with 110 points. Ioana got past Olga at the very last hand. Ioana spent a good while in last place and climbed out of it.

Nico led for 17 hands but finished second, 6 points behind. Nico swore 0 in the fifth of the middle eights and took a trick — whist has a sense of humour.

PaulP crossed the finish line first, on 118 points. In the second of the closing eights: PaulP said 0, scooped 3, and Nico was left counting the pieces. PaulP was even last after the first of the middle eights, which makes the win all the sweeter.
