Elena comes back from behind

The cards went out, and so did the egos. Here is what came of it.

Elena won with 127 points, by a whisker: just 3 points ahead. Elena only went in front at the very last hand. It didn't start well — only 4th after the opening eights — but it clearly didn't end there.

Mara led for 27 hands but finished second, 3 points behind. Mara was ahead of Elena right up to the last hand.

Radu rounds out the podium with 120 points. Bronze still counts as a medal. Radu left the robot at the wheel most of the evening and still came out respectable. Teamwork with the server.

In 4th place, Ana, on 108 points. The last hand decided it: Ana went past Emi right on the line. In the fifth of the closing eights: Ana called 1, took 5, and Mara was left out in the cold.

Emi finishes right in the middle — neither hot nor cold — 5th, with 108 points. Level on points with Ana, and behind only on the tie-break. Emi was ahead of Ana right up to the last hand.

The tail of the table: Mihai, with 105 points. Somebody has to hold the candle. Mihai swore 0 in the last of the middle eights and took a trick — whist has a sense of humour.

Well played everyone — and especially Elena!
