Kiki comes back from behind

Another evening at the green baize, and it had a bit of everything.

Kiki took the game with 128 points and a 31-point cushion — never really in doubt. It didn't start well — only 3rd after the opening eights — but it clearly didn't end there. 11 good hands in a row — at one point, Kiki was playing as if they could see everyone else's cards.

Mihai took second with 97 points — a fine evening, but the gods of whist were busy elsewhere. 2 hands in a row: only Mihai slipped, while the rest said it and did it. The cards were kind to everyone but Mihai. Mihai was even in front after the last of the opening eights.

Ana rounds out the podium with 82 points. Bronze still counts as a medal. The last hand decided it: Ana went past Elena right on the line. 2 hands in a row: Ana broke the contract each time while everyone else made theirs.

Last place, with dignity: Elena, with 81 points. Somebody had to do it. In the third of the closing eights: Elena said 4, made 7, and the evening was ruined for Ana. Elena was ahead of Ana right up to the last hand.

Well played everyone — and especially Kiki!
