edge takes the table

An evening with a bit of everything, except contracts kept: 37 slips at the table and scores from 96 down to 67.

edge won at a stroll, with 96 points and 26 clear of the rest. At one stretch, 7 good hands in a row. And that despite a slip in the very last hand.

Mihai took second with 70 points — a fine evening, but the gods of whist were busy elsewhere. The last hand decided it: Mihai went past Vyce right on the line. In the last of the opening eights, Mihai bid 0 and took 5 — and Elena went down with it.

Third, and on the podium: Elena, with 70 points. Elena got past Vyce at the very last hand. Level on points with Mihai, and behind only on the tie-break.

Last, but with style: Vyce, with 67 points. At least there were cards worth talking about. Started like a champion — top of the table after the last of the opening eights — and finished like a tragedy. Vyce was ahead of Mihai right up to the last hand.

Well played everyone — and especially edge!
