The comeback of Luis

The lead passed from hand to hand, 8 times over — it was anyone's guess.

Kiki took last place without any nerves at all, on 53 points. Started like a champion — top of the table after the last of the opening eights — and finished like a tragedy. In the last of the middle eights: Kiki said 1, scooped 4, and Elena was left counting the pieces.

Elena rounds out the podium with 77 points. Bronze still counts as a medal. 2 hands in a row: Elena broke the contract each time while everyone else made theirs. Elena was even in front after the five-card hand on the way down.

Mihai led for 11 hands but finished second, 4 points behind. Mihai was ahead of Luis right up to the last hand. At one stretch, 11 good hands in a row.

First place and peace of mind: Luis, with 92 points. Luis only went in front at the very last hand. In the third of the opening eights, Luis bid 1 and took 4 — and Elena went down with it.
