Sebi takes it in the closing rounds

Another evening at the green baize, and it had a bit of everything.

First place: Sebi, with 123 points. Sebi only went in front at the very last hand. At one stretch, 10 good hands in a row.

George led for 22 hands but finished second, 12 points behind. The first of the closing eights: George called 6 with the heart, not the cards. Eyes bigger than the hand.

Third, on the podium: Florentin, up there with eyes on the top step. In the fourth of the closing eights: Florentin said 4, scooped 7, and Ilinca and Mara were left counting the pieces. Florentin spent a good while in last place and climbed out of it.

Neither at the front nor at the back: Ilinca in 4th, with 75 points. The comfort zone. In the third of the opening eights: Ilinca called 1, took 4, and Sebi was left out in the cold. After the six-card hand on the way up, Ilinca was 3rd and dreaming of the podium — but the last hands had other plans.

Last place, with dignity: Mara, with 72 points. Somebody had to do it. 2 hands in a row: the whole table kept its word, only Mara didn't — but insisted, with dignity. After the two-card hand on the way up, Mara was 3rd and dreaming of the podium — but the last hands had other plans.
