Mihai comes back from behind

An evening with a bit of everything, except contracts kept: 36 slips at the table and scores from 102 down to 68.

Mihai took the game with 102 points and a 21-point cushion — never really in doubt.

Ana took second with 81 points — a fine evening, but the gods of whist were busy elsewhere. 2 hands in a row: only Ana slipped, while the rest said it and did it. The cards were kind to everyone but Ana.

Third, on the podium: Elena, up there with eyes on the top step. In the last of the opening eights: Elena said 3, scooped 7, and Daniela was left counting the pieces. 4 hands in a row: the whole table kept its word, only Elena didn't — but insisted, with dignity.

The tail of the table: Daniela, with 68 points. Somebody has to hold the candle. 2 hands in a row: only Daniela slipped, while the rest said it and did it. The cards were kind to everyone but Daniela. After the six-card hand on the way up, Daniela was 3rd and dreaming of the podium — but the last hands had other plans.
