Mihai wins the evening

A game of broken contracts — 38 of them around the table, and scores from 120 all the way down to 57.

The tail of the table: Luis, with 57 points. Somebody has to hold the candle. The table was Luis's after the last of the opening eights; the second half had other ideas. 2 hands in a row: only Luis slipped, while the rest said it and did it. The cards were kind to everyone but Luis.

Third, on the podium: Daniela, up there with eyes on the top step. The place above was a single point away.

Ionela took second with 69 points — a fine evening, but the gods of whist were busy elsewhere. Ionela said they'd take nothing in the first of the opening eights... and took some. Whist listens, then does the opposite.

Mihai won at a stroll, with 120 points and 51 clear of the rest. At one stretch, 11 good hands in a row. And that despite a slip in the very last hand.

Congratulations to all — see you at the next table!
