Ana comes back from behind

The lead passed from hand to hand, 5 times over — it was anyone's guess.

Ana took the game with 106 points and a 20-point cushion — never really in doubt. It didn't start well — only 3rd after the opening eights — but it clearly didn't end there.

Elena took second with 86 points — a fine evening, but the gods of whist were busy elsewhere. Elena got past Mihai at the very last hand. 2 hands in a row: the table said and did, Elena said and... hoped. It didn't hold.

Mihai completed the podium with 86 points. Level on points with Elena, and behind only on the tie-break. Mihai was ahead of Elena right up to the last hand.

Ionela took last place without any nerves at all, on 59 points. From leader to red lantern. The little wedge tipped the big cart — and the cart was Ionela. 2 hands in a row: Ionela broke the contract each time while everyone else made theirs.
