Luis wins the evening

A game of broken contracts — 43 of them around the table, and scores from 88 all the way down to 57.

Last place: Ana, with 57 points. After the six-card hand on the way up, Ana was 2nd and dreaming of the podium — but the last hands had other plans.

Third, on the podium: Mihai, up there with eyes on the top step. The place above was a single point away. Mihai was even in front after the last of the opening eights.

Ionela took second with 64 points — a fine evening, but the gods of whist were busy elsewhere. The last of the opening eights: Ionela called 8 with the heart, not the cards. Eyes bigger than the hand.

Luis took the game with 88 points and a 24-point cushion — never really in doubt. In the six-card hand on the way up, Luis bid 3 and took 6 — and Ionela and Mihai went down with them.

Well played everyone. Same table next time?
