The comeback of Denisa

The lead passed from hand to hand, 5 times over — it was anyone's guess.

The tail of the table: Elena, with 65 points. Somebody has to hold the candle. From leader to red lantern. The little wedge tipped the big cart — and the cart was Elena. 2 hands in a row: Elena broke the contract each time while everyone else made theirs.

Cretu completed the podium with 77 points. 2 hands in a row: only Cretu slipped, while the rest said it and did it. The cards were kind to everyone but Cretu.

Mihai took second with 79 points — a fine evening, but the gods of whist were busy elsewhere. Mihai was even in front after the six-card hand on the way down.

Denisa won at a stroll, with 115 points and 36 clear of the rest. At one stretch, 8 good hands in a row.
