Luis comes back from behind

The lead passed from hand to hand, 5 times over — it was anyone's guess.

Luis won by a whisker, with just 2 points — at whist even one point is as good as a mile. Luis was even last after the three-card hand on the way down, which makes the win all the sweeter.

crista led for 13 hands but finished second, 2 points behind. 2 hands in a row: only crista slipped, while the rest said it and did it. The cards were kind to everyone but crista.

Mihai rounds out the podium with 79 points. Bronze still counts as a medal. The last hand decided it: Mihai went past Ionela right on the line. In the first of the middle eights: Mihai called 1, took 5, and Ionela was left out in the cold.

Ionela closes out the table, with 73 points. "Last one buys the coffee" — as they say at the table. In the third of the opening eights, Ionela bid 3 and took 6 — and Mihai went down with it. Ionela was ahead of Mihai right up to the last hand.
