The lead kept changing — Mihai came out on top

Luis closes out the table, with 49 points. "Last one buys the coffee" — as they say at the table. In the first of the closing eights: Luis called 0, took 4, and Gigel was left out in the cold. After the two-card hand on the way up, Luis was 2nd and dreaming of the podium — but the last hands had other plans.

Third, and on the podium: Gigel, with 61 points. 2 hands in a row: the table said and did, Gigel said and... hoped. It didn't hold. Gigel was even in front after the seven-card hand on the way down.

Elena took second with 69 points — a fine evening, but the gods of whist were busy elsewhere. Elena spent a long time on the red lantern and came out clean — determined not to buy the round.

Mihai won at a stroll, with 100 points and 31 clear of the rest. At one stretch, 7 good hands in a row.
