Mihai takes the table

An evening with a bit of everything, except contracts kept: 35 slips at the table and scores from 92 down to 70.

Mihai finished level and took the win on the tie-break: fewer broken contracts. Whist rewards the player who keeps their word. And that despite a slip in the very last hand.

Daniela finished second, just 0 points short of the win. Level on points with Mihai, and behind only on the tie-break. From the tail of the table to a warm spot: Daniela plays right down to the last card.

Third, on the podium: Elena, up there with eyes on the top step. In the second of the opening eights: Elena said 1, scooped 5, and Daniela was left counting the pieces.

Ionela closed the table from the back, on 70 points — there is always a next game. In the third of the closing eights, Ionela bid 3 and took 6 — and Elena went down with it. After the two-card hand on the way up, Ionela was 2nd and dreaming of the podium — but the last hands had other plans.

Congratulations to all — see you at the next table!
