Mihai, from start to finish

An evening with a bit of everything, except contracts kept: 43 slips at the table and scores from 112 down to 47.

Mihai took the game with 112 points and a 44-point cushion — never really in doubt. In front from the second of the opening eights to the end, and nobody got close enough to worry about. 6 good hands in a row — at one point, Mihai was playing as if they could see everyone else's cards.

Luis took second with 68 points — a fine evening, but the gods of whist were busy elsewhere. Luis spent a long time on the red lantern and came out clean — determined not to buy the round.

Gigel rounds out the podium with 51 points. Bronze still counts as a medal. 13 broken contracts, collected like stamps.

Ionela closed the table from the back, on 47 points — there is always a next game. In the first of the closing eights, Ionela bid 2 and took 6 — and Gigel and Luis went down with them. After the two-card hand on the way up, Ionela was 3rd and dreaming of the podium — but the last hands had other plans.

Well played everyone. Same table next time?
