Cosmin, from start to finish

An evening with a bit of everything, except contracts kept: 41 slips at the table and scores from 103 down to 52.

Cosmin won at a stroll, with 103 points and 29 clear of the rest. In front from the last of the opening eights to the end, and nobody got close enough to worry about.

Alina took second with 74 points — a fine evening, but the gods of whist were busy elsewhere. The first of the opening eights: Alina called 6 with the heart, not the cards. Eyes bigger than the hand.

Third, on the podium: Luis, up there with eyes on the top step. Luis said they'd take nothing in the five-card hand on the way down... and took some. Whist listens, then does the opposite.

Mihai closed the table from the back, on 52 points — there is always a next game. In the first of the closing eights, Mihai bid 2 and took 6 — and Alina and Luis went down with them. 2 hands in a row: only Mihai slipped, while the rest said it and did it. The cards were kind to everyone but Mihai.

Congratulations to all — see you at the next table!
