An evening with a bit of everything, except contracts kept: 34 slips at the table and scores from 102 down to 69.

edge won at a stroll, with 102 points and 24 clear of the rest. In front from the second of the opening eights to the end, and nobody got close enough to worry about. And that despite a slip in the very last hand.

Mihai took second with 78 points — a fine evening, but the gods of whist were busy elsewhere. In the four-card hand on the way down, Mihai bid 1 and took 4 — and Ana and edge went down with them. 2 hands in a row: only Mihai slipped, while the rest said it and did it. The cards were kind to everyone but Mihai.

Third, and on the podium: Elena, with 75 points. 2 hands in a row: the table said and did, Elena said and... hoped. It didn't hold. At one stretch, 7 good hands in a row.

The tail of the table: Ana, with 69 points. Somebody has to hold the candle. 2 hands in a row: Ana broke the contract each time while everyone else made theirs. After the two-card hand on the way up, Ana was 3rd and dreaming of the podium — but the last hands had other plans.
