Mihai comes back from behind

The lead passed from hand to hand, 8 times over — it was anyone's guess.
Mihai won by a whisker, with just 1 point — at whist even one point is as good as a mile. Mihai only went in front at the very last hand. Mihai was even last after the third of the closing eights, which makes the win all the sweeter.
Elena finished second, just 1 point short of the win. Elena got past Luis at the very last hand. In the second of the closing eights: Elena said 2, made 6, and the evening was ruined for Mihai.
Third, on the podium: Luis, up there with eyes on the top step. Level on points with Elena, and behind only on the tie-break. Luis was ahead of Mihai right up to the last hand.
The tail of the table: Ana, with 69 points. Somebody has to hold the candle. From leader to red lantern. The little wedge tipped the big cart — and the cart was Ana. Ana was ahead of Mihai right up to the last hand.
