The comeback of CCC

The lead changed hands 4 times — nobody got comfortable at the top.

Last place, with dignity: Daniela, with 81 points. Somebody had to do it. In the fourth of the middle eights: Daniela said 1, made 4, and the evening was ruined for Gigel. 2 hands in a row: the whole table kept its word, only Daniela didn't — but insisted, with dignity.

Catalin finishes right in the middle — neither hot nor cold — 5th, with 87 points. 2 hands in a row: the whole table kept its word, only Catalin didn't — but insisted, with dignity.

In 4th place, Sebi, on 101 points. After the two-card hand on the way up, Sebi was 3rd and dreaming of the podium — but the last hands had other plans.

Third, and on the podium: Gigel, with 105 points. In the fourth of the opening eights: Gigel said 2, scooped 5, and Claudiu and Daniela were left counting the pieces.

Claudiu took second with 119 points — a fine evening, but the gods of whist were busy elsewhere. Claudiu swore 0 in the fifth of the closing eights and took a trick — whist has a sense of humour.

CCC finishes on 148 points, 29 above the next — the rest were playing a different game, it seems. It didn't start well — only 3rd after the opening eights — but it clearly didn't end there. 17 good hands in a row — at one point, CCC was playing as if they could see everyone else's cards.
