Denisa takes the table

An evening with a bit of everything, except contracts kept: 38 slips at the table and scores from 113 down to 56.

Denisa took the game with 113 points and a 36-point cushion — never really in doubt. In the third of the closing eights, Denisa bid 2 and took 5 — and Mihai went down with it.

edge took second with 77 points — a fine evening, but the gods of whist were busy elsewhere. 2 hands in a row: the whole table kept its word, only edge didn't — but insisted, with dignity.

Third, on the podium: Elena, up there with eyes on the top step. 2 hands in a row: the whole table kept its word, only Elena didn't — but insisted, with dignity. At one stretch, 8 good hands in a row.

Mihai closes out the table, with 56 points. "Last one buys the coffee" — as they say at the table. Mihai had the table at their feet after the two-card hand on the way down. Whist was there to remind them nothing lasts forever. 3 hands in a row: Mihai broke the contract each time while everyone else made theirs.

Well played everyone — and especially Denisa!
