Ana comes back from behind

An evening with a bit of everything, except contracts kept: 34 slips at the table and scores from 106 down to 70.

Ana finishes on 106 points, 24 above the next — the rest were playing a different game, it seems. It didn't start well — only 3rd after the opening eights — but it clearly didn't end there. 8 good hands in a row — at one point, Ana was playing as if they could see everyone else's cards.

Luis took second with 82 points — a fine evening, but the gods of whist were busy elsewhere. 2 hands in a row: the table said and did, Luis said and... hoped. It didn't hold. From the tail of the table to a warm spot: Luis plays right down to the last card.

Ionela completed the podium with 71 points. The last hand decided it: Ionela went past Mihai right on the line. In the second of the opening eights, Ionela bid 0 and took 6 — and Ana and Luis went down with them.

Mihai closed the table from the back, on 70 points — there is always a next game. In the first of the opening eights: Mihai called 3, took 7, and Ana was left out in the cold. Mihai was ahead of Ionela right up to the last hand.
