Ana, from start to finish

An evening with a bit of everything, except contracts kept: 34 slips at the table and scores from 119 down to 67.

Ana took the game with 119 points and a 31-point cushion — never really in doubt. In front from the second of the opening eights to the end, and nobody got close enough to worry about. And that despite a slip in the very last hand.

Ionela took second with 88 points — a fine evening, but the gods of whist were busy elsewhere. The second of the opening eights: Ionela bid 7, made fewer, and counted the regrets.

Third, on the podium: Luis, up there with eyes on the top step. In the second of the opening eights: Luis said 1, scooped 4, and Daniela and Ionela were left counting the pieces. 3 hands in a row: the whole table kept its word, only Luis didn't — but insisted, with dignity.

Daniela closes out the table, with 67 points. "Last one buys the coffee" — as they say at the table. In the last of the middle eights: Daniela called 4, took 7, and Luis was left out in the cold. 2 hands in a row: Daniela broke the contract each time while everyone else made theirs.
