Luis takes the table

An evening with a bit of everything, except contracts kept: 46 slips at the table and scores from 85 down to 38.

Luis won at a stroll, with 85 points and 25 clear of the rest. At one stretch, 6 good hands in a row. And that despite a slip in the very last hand.

Ana took second with 60 points — a fine evening, but the gods of whist were busy elsewhere. In the last of the opening eights, Ana bid 1 and took 7 — and Mihai went down with it.

Third, on the podium: Elena, up there with eyes on the top step. 2 hands in a row: the whole table kept its word, only Elena didn't — but insisted, with dignity. Elena was even in front after the seven-card hand on the way down.

Mihai took last place without any nerves at all, on 38 points. In the second of the middle eights: Mihai called 1, took 4, and Ana was left out in the cold. Before the last eights, only 7 points off the podium — the pace just didn't hold.
