Denisa takes the table

The cards went out, and so did the egos. Here is what came of it.

Denisa takes the game with 129 points and goes home happy. In the fourth of the middle eights: Denisa called 2, took 6, and Cretu and Pity were left out in the cold. And that despite a slip in the very last hand.

Second place for Petru, with 124 points. So close to the top they can still taste it — bittersweet. Petru swore 0 in the second of the middle eights and took a trick — whist has a sense of humour.

Alice completed the podium with 119 points. 5 behind Petru, 3 ahead of Cretu — right in the thick of it.

Cretu finished 4th with 116 points. 2 hands in a row: the whole table kept its word, only Cretu didn't — but insisted, with dignity. After the two-card hand on the way up, Cretu was 2nd and dreaming of the podium — but the last hands had other plans.

In 5th place, Pity, on 111 points. In the fourth of the closing eights, Pity bid 1 and took 5 — and Cretu went down with it. Before the last eights, only 3 points off the podium — the pace just didn't hold. Pity cried laughing 5 times 😂 — a fun evening, at least on one side of the table.

Last place, with dignity: Mara, with 98 points. Somebody had to do it. At one stretch, 9 good hands in a row.
