Radu comes back from behind

The lead passed from hand to hand, 4 times over — it was anyone's guess.

Radu finishes on 149 points, 34 above the next — the rest were playing a different game, it seems. It didn't start well — only 4th after the opening eights — but it clearly didn't end there. 10 good hands in a row — at one point, Radu was playing as if they could see everyone else's cards.

Mihai took second with 115 points — a fine evening, but the gods of whist were busy elsewhere. Mihai left the robot at the wheel most of the evening and still came out respectable. Teamwork with the server.

Third, on the podium: Cretu, up there with eyes on the top step. Cretu was even in front after the last of the opening eights.

Neither at the front nor at the back: Petru in 4th, with 90 points. The comfort zone. 2 hands in a row: only Petru slipped, while the rest said it and did it. The cards were kind to everyone but Petru. After the two-card hand on the way up, Petru was 3rd and dreaming of the podium — but the last hands had other plans.

Last place: Elena, with 86 points. In the fourth of the middle eights: Elena said 2, made 5, and the evening was ruined for Mihai. Before the last eights, only 4 points off the podium — the pace just didn't hold.
