Adell never gave up the lead

Vyce took second with 80 points — a fine evening, but the gods of whist were busy elsewhere. On the one-card hand, Vyce laid down a card and a fistful of luck. It held.

Adell won at a stroll, with 122 points and 42 clear of the rest. In the second of the closing eights: Adell said 3, scooped 7, and Luis was left counting the pieces. In front from the third of the opening eights to the end, and nobody got close enough to worry about.
