Luis comes back from behind

The lead changed hands 7 times — nobody got comfortable at the top.

Luis wins by 22 clear. That's not whist any more, it's a parade with a brass band. In the last of the opening eights: Luis said 5, scooped 8, and Ana was left counting the pieces. At one stretch, 7 good hands in a row.

Ionela took second with 85 points — a fine evening, but the gods of whist were busy elsewhere. 2 hands in a row: Ionela broke the contract each time while everyone else made theirs. Ionela was even in front after the six-card hand on the way down.

Mihai completed the podium with 56 points. In the five-card hand on the way up, Mihai bid 1 and took 4 — and Ana went down with it. 2 hands in a row: only Mihai slipped, while the rest said it and did it. The cards were kind to everyone but Mihai.

Ana closed the table from the back, on 54 points — there is always a next game. 2 hands in a row: Ana broke the contract each time while everyone else made theirs. After the three-card hand on the way up, Ana was 2nd and dreaming of the podium — but the last hands had other plans.
