edge, from start to finish

The cards went out, and so did the egos. Here is what came of it.

edge won at a stroll, with 119 points and 31 clear of the rest. In the last of the closing eights: edge said 0, made 3, and the evening was ruined for Ana. In front from the first of the opening eights to the end, and nobody got close enough to worry about.

Ana took second with 88 points — a fine evening, but the gods of whist were busy elsewhere. 2 hands in a row: Ana broke the contract each time while everyone else made theirs. Ana spent a long time on the red lantern and came out clean — determined not to buy the round.

Third, and on the podium: Elena, with 82 points. 2 hands in a row: the table said and did, Elena said and... hoped. It didn't hold.

Mihai took last place without any nerves at all, on 63 points. 2 hands in a row: only Mihai slipped, while the rest said it and did it. The cards were kind to everyone but Mihai.
