Ionela comes back from behind

An evening with a bit of everything, except contracts kept: 43 slips at the table and scores from 101 down to 40.

Ionela finishes on 101 points, 27 above the next — the rest were playing a different game, it seems. 7 good hands in a row — at one point, Ionela was playing as if they could see everyone else's cards.

Laura led for 17 hands but finished second, 27 points behind. In the last of the middle eights: Laura said 2, scooped 5, and Luis was left counting the pieces.

Third, on the podium: Luis, up there with eyes on the top step. In the third of the opening eights: Luis said 0, scooped 4, and Ionela and Mihai were left counting the pieces. 2 hands in a row: the whole table kept its word, only Luis didn't — but insisted, with dignity.

Mihai took last place without any nerves at all, on 40 points. 2 hands in a row: only Mihai slipped, while the rest said it and did it. The cards were kind to everyone but Mihai. After the two-card hand on the way up, Mihai was 3rd and dreaming of the podium — but the last hands had other plans.
