Ionela comes back from behind

Ionela finishes on 120 points, 23 above the next — the rest were playing a different game, it seems. In the first of the closing eights: Ionela called 0, took 5, and Luis and crista were left out in the cold. It didn't start well — only 4th after the opening eights — but it clearly didn't end there.

Catalin took second with 97 points — a fine evening, but the gods of whist were busy elsewhere. 2 hands in a row: Catalin broke the contract each time while everyone else made theirs. Catalin was even in front after the five-card hand on the way down.

Third, on the podium: Luis, up there with eyes on the top step. In the last of the middle eights: Luis said 0, scooped 5, and crista was left counting the pieces. Luis was even in front after the last of the opening eights.

crista took last place without any nerves at all, on 41 points. 2 hands in a row: crista broke the contract each time while everyone else made theirs.
