The lead kept changing — Daniela came out on top

The lead changed hands 5 times — nobody got comfortable at the top.

Elena closes out the table, with 69 points. "Last one buys the coffee" — as they say at the table. Elena was ahead of Luis right up to the last hand. 2 hands in a row: only Elena slipped, while the rest said it and did it. The cards were kind to everyone but Elena.

Luis completed the podium with 74 points. The last hand decided it: Luis went past Elena right on the line.

Mihai took second with 77 points — a fine evening, but the gods of whist were busy elsewhere. At one stretch, 7 good hands in a row.

Daniela wins by 23 clear. That's not whist any more, it's a parade with a brass band. In the first of the closing eights: Daniela said 2, made 6, and the evening was ruined for Luis.
