The comeback of Elena

A game of broken contracts — 34 of them around the table, and scores from 105 all the way down to 68.

Mihai took last place without any nerves at all, on 68 points. In the last of the closing eights: Mihai said 2, scooped 6, and Kiki was left counting the pieces. 3 hands in a row: the table said and did, Mihai said and... hoped. It didn't hold.

Third, on the podium: Ana, up there with eyes on the top step. In the second of the closing eights: Ana said 2, made 5, and the evening was ruined for Kiki. 2 hands in a row: the whole table kept its word, only Ana didn't — but insisted, with dignity.

Kiki led for 13 hands but finished second, 18 points behind. Kiki said they'd take nothing in the four-card hand on the way up... and took some. Whist listens, then does the opposite.
