Vyce wins it late

7 changes of leader: this one was a tug of war.

Luis took last place without any nerves at all, on 26 points. In the first of the closing eights, Luis bid 0 and took 3 — and Adell and Vyce went down with them. After the two-card hand on the way up, Luis was 3rd and dreaming of the podium — but the last hands had other plans.

Third, on the podium: Ionela, up there with eyes on the top step. In the second of the opening eights: Ionela said 1, made 4, and the evening was ruined for Adell. At one stretch, 8 good hands in a row.

Adell took second with 80 points — a fine evening, but the gods of whist were busy elsewhere. Adell was even in front after the five-card hand on the way down.

Vyce finishes on 100 points, 20 above the next — the rest were playing a different game, it seems.
