Mihai comes back from behind

The lead passed from hand to hand, 8 times over — it was anyone's guess.

Neck and neck with Elena, but Mihai kept their word better when it counted. It didn't start well — only 3rd after the opening eights — but it clearly didn't end there.

Elena led for 15 hands but finished second, 0 points behind. Level on points with Mihai, and behind only on the tie-break. Elena was ahead of Mihai right up to the last hand.

Third, on the podium: edge, up there with eyes on the top step. edge was even in front after the five-card hand on the way down.

Vyce took last place without any nerves at all, on 56 points. Top of the table after the six-card hand on the way down, then straight to the bottom. The plan at home didn't match the one at the table. In the second of the middle eights: Vyce said 1, scooped 4, and Elena was left counting the pieces.
