Adell comes back from behind

The lead passed from hand to hand, 4 times over — it was anyone's guess.

Adell took the game with 98 points and a 30-point cushion — never really in doubt. It didn't start well — only 4th after the opening eights — but it clearly didn't end there. 2 hands in a row: Adell broke the contract each time while everyone else made theirs.

Ionela took second with 68 points — a fine evening, but the gods of whist were busy elsewhere. The last hand decided it: Ionela went past Luis right on the line. Ionela was even in front after the second of the middle eights.

Third, on the podium: Vyce, up there with eyes on the top step. Vyce got past Luis at the very last hand. In the last of the opening eights: Vyce said 5, scooped 8, and Luis was left counting the pieces.

Last place: Luis, with 63 points. Started like a champion — top of the table after the seven-card hand on the way down — and finished like a tragedy. In the second of the middle eights: Luis said 1, made 5, and the evening was ruined for Adell.
