The comeback of Ana

Emi closed the table from the back, on 68 points — there is always a next game. From leader to red lantern. The little wedge tipped the big cart — and the cart was Emi. In the third of the closing eights, Emi bid 0 and took 3 — and Ana went down with it.

Third, on the podium: Mihai, up there with eyes on the top step. In the first of the middle eights: Mihai said 0, made 3, and the evening was ruined for Elena. 4 hands in a row: the whole table kept its word, only Mihai didn't — but insisted, with dignity.

Elena finished second, just 3 points short of the win. 2 hands in a row: Elena broke the contract each time while everyone else made theirs. Elena was even in front after the last of the opening eights.

Ana won by a whisker, with just 3 points — at whist even one point is as good as a mile. It didn't start well — only 4th after the opening eights — but it clearly didn't end there. And that despite a slip in the very last hand.
