Luis never gave up the lead

Another evening at the green baize — a bit of everything, just like home.

Last place, with dignity: Denisa, with 75 points. Somebody had to do it. In the seven-card hand on the way down: Denisa said 2, made 5, and the evening was ruined for Carmen. 2 hands in a row: the whole table kept its word, only Denisa didn't — but insisted, with dignity.

Carmen finished 4th with 88 points. Carmen was ahead of Alice right up to the last hand. After the first of the closing eights, Carmen was 2nd and dreaming of the podium — but the last hands had other plans.

Third, on the podium: Petru, up there with eyes on the top step. Petru got past Carmen at the very last hand. The place above was a single point away.

Alice took second with 90 points — a fine evening, but the gods of whist were busy elsewhere. Alice got past Carmen at the very last hand.

Luis took the game with 140 points and a 50-point cushion — never really in doubt. In front from the fourth of the opening eights to the end, and nobody got close enough to worry about. 10 good hands in a row — at one point, Luis was playing as if they could see everyone else's cards.
