Luis, from start to finish

An evening with a bit of everything, except contracts kept: 35 slips at the table and scores from 112 down to 69.

Luis wins by 26 clear. That's not whist any more, it's a parade with a brass band. In front from the second of the opening eights to the end, and nobody got close enough to worry about. And that despite a slip in the very last hand.

Ionela took second with 86 points — a fine evening, but the gods of whist were busy elsewhere. The last hand decided it: Ionela went past Roua right on the line. Ionela spent a long time on the red lantern and came out clean — determined not to buy the round.

Third, and on the podium: Roua, with 79 points. Roua was ahead of Ionela right up to the last hand.

The tail of the table: Mihai, with 69 points. Somebody has to hold the candle. In the first of the middle eights, Mihai bid 3 and took 6 — and Roua went down with it. 2 hands in a row: only Mihai slipped, while the rest said it and did it. The cards were kind to everyone but Mihai.
