Denisa never gave up the lead
5 players · 22 September 2026
5 players, 27 hands, one winner and a pile of excuses. Let's see how it went.
The tail of the table: Sebi, with 65 points. Somebody has to hold the candle. 2 hands in a row: Sebi broke the contract each time while everyone else made theirs. In the fourth of the middle eights, 2 chairs flew at Sebi within seconds 🪑 — the table had opinions.
Mihai finished 4th with 73 points. In the last of the closing eights: Mihai said 2, scooped 5, and Ana and Denisa were left counting the pieces. After the two-card hand on the way up, Mihai was 3rd and dreaming of the podium — but the last hands had other plans.
Third, on the podium: Ana, up there with eyes on the top step. In the third of the opening eights: Ana said 2, made 5, and the evening was ruined for Sebi.
Elena took second with 104 points — a fine evening, but the gods of whist were busy elsewhere. Elena swore 0 in the last of the middle eights and took a trick — whist has a sense of humour.
Denisa wins by 21 clear. That's not whist any more, it's a parade with a brass band. In front from the second of the opening eights to the end, and nobody got close enough to worry about. And that despite a slip in the very last hand.
Well played everyone. Same table next time?
