Luis, from start to finish

An evening with a bit of everything, except contracts kept: 36 slips at the table and scores from 125 down to 40.

Luis wins by 33 clear. That's not whist any more, it's a parade with a brass band. In front from the second of the opening eights to the end, and nobody got close enough to worry about. At one stretch, 7 good hands in a row.

Elena took second with 92 points — a fine evening, but the gods of whist were busy elsewhere. In the first of the closing eights: Elena said 0, made 3, and the evening was ruined for Luis.

Ana rounds out the podium with 72 points. Bronze still counts as a medal. 2 hands in a row: Ana broke the contract each time while everyone else made theirs.

Mihai took last place without any nerves at all, on 40 points. 2 hands in a row: only Mihai slipped, while the rest said it and did it. The cards were kind to everyone but Mihai. After the two-card hand on the way up, Mihai was 3rd and dreaming of the podium — but the last hands had other plans.
