The lead kept changing — Gigel came out on top

Luis closes out the table, with 75 points. "Last one buys the coffee" — as they say at the table. In the third of the middle eights, Luis bid 1 and took 5 — and Elena went down with it. Luis was ahead of Mihai right up to the last hand.

Third, on the podium: Mihai, up there with eyes on the top step. Mihai got past Luis at the very last hand. The place above was a single point away.

Elena finishes second, 4 points short of gold. Silver shines, but not quite the same. Elena was even in front after the last of the opening eights.

First place: Gigel, with 87 points. In the first of the closing eights: Gigel said 2, made 5, and the evening was ruined for Mihai. And that despite a slip in the very last hand.
