Ana, from start to finish

The cards went out, and so did the egos. Here is what came of it.

Ana took the game with 143 points and a 39-point cushion — never really in doubt. In the second of the opening eights: Ana called 2, took 5, and Sebi was left out in the cold. In front from the fourth of the opening eights to the end, and nobody got close enough to worry about.

Mihai took second with 104 points — a fine evening, but the gods of whist were busy elsewhere. 2 hands in a row: only Mihai slipped, while the rest said it and did it. The cards were kind to everyone but Mihai. From the tail of the table to a warm spot: Mihai plays right down to the last card.

Third, and on the podium: Elena, with 103 points. In the fourth of the opening eights: Elena said 3, made 6, and the evening was ruined for Mihai and Radu. The place above was a single point away.

Neither at the front nor at the back: Radu in 4th, with 95 points. The comfort zone. 2 hands in a row: Radu broke the contract each time while everyone else made theirs.

Last, but with style: Sebi, with 93 points. At least there were cards worth talking about. 2 hands in a row: the table said and did, Sebi said and... hoped. It didn't hold. After the two-card hand on the way up, Sebi was 2nd and dreaming of the podium — but the last hands had other plans.
