The comeback of Luis

Mara rounds out the podium with 70 points. Bronze still counts as a medal. Mara swore 0 in the first of the opening eights and took a trick — whist has a sense of humour.

Denisa took second with 74 points — a fine evening, but the gods of whist were busy elsewhere. In the second of the middle eights: Denisa said 0, made 3, and the evening was ruined for Ionela. Denisa was even in front after the last of the opening eights.

Luis took the game with 97 points and a 23-point cushion — never really in doubt. It didn't start well — only 3rd after the opening eights — but it clearly didn't end there. 9 good hands in a row — at one point, Luis was playing as if they could see everyone else's cards.
